The 7th Neurosurgical Masterclass: Vascular Neurosurgery, 2019

Dear friends and colleagues,

It is our distinct pleasure to invite you to be part of the unique neurosurgical event in Romania – The Neurosurgical Masterclass.

The Neurosurgical Masterclass course was born from students’ passion for neurosurgery and is designed to adress both medical students, who have an interest in neurosurgery, and young neurosurgical residents who are interested in improving their knowledge regarding different neurosurgical concepts. Until now, there was no Course that has Students as a main target. The concept of this congress is to make neurosurgery more familiar and a more attractive specialty for students.

In the present seventh edition we will be covering multiple topics concerning Vascular Pathology of the Brain. Neurovascular diseases are challenging, high risk, and often present with minimal symptoms, resulting in significant ethical issues in decision making: to treat or not to treat (and how to treat) is the question. Vascular neurosurgery has seen an unprecedented level of advancement in the last decade. The progress of endovascular treatments has allowed safer, easier access to pathology untreatable in the past. With this advancement, controversy and diverging philosophies have left many practitioners confused as to what is best practice, or even appropriate.

We invited a group of leading experts in this domain who can give us insights into the best combined approaches – because there will never be ever be one uniform approach- for difficult neurovascular pathology. The process of sharing their knowledge from generation to generation, even as we make new advances, is a key commitment that drives all of us.

The unique element comes when alongside them their will be speakers representing individuals at different stages of their career including medical students and neurosurgical residents.

Having access to a concise source of information where it will be discussed what the different tools are and how best to use them is paramount to understanding the ever-evolving field of vascular neurosurgery.

The course does not aim to be exhaustive, our goal is that with this course we stimulate and encourage the young participants to pursue the path of neurosurgery and also to pass on the necessary tools for a correct, advised opinion on medical information.

Sincerely yours,

Prof. Dr. Ioan Ștefan Florian
